Mustang 95 Lights flashing after battery change!
First time here and not often on forums so bare with me.
Battery died in my '95 mustang last week. Went and got a new one and swapped it out. Glad I had my keys in my pocket, all the doors locked when the new one was installed. Now parking lights, blinkers, and taillights flash for about a minute at random times. They flash when the doors get opened. They flash when you get out of it whether the doors are locked are unlocked. I bought the car two years ago and don't know if it had some sort of alarm or keyless entry but I haven't found anything and I don't have a remote. I also noticed the center clock flashes with the lights. Surely its some kind of anti-theft I screwed up when I changed the battery but I sure don't know how to fix it. Any help appreciated! |

Just an update.
I did notice a silver toggle switch under the dash that is mounted on the fuse box. It looks factory but not sure. If you open door parking lights, blinkers and taillights blink for thirty seconds. Don't really need to go to the dealership right now. Thanks |

Welcome to Iron Piston. As far as I know Ford doesn't mount a toggle switch on the fuse box. This would have to be some sort of hidden brain somewhere in your car.
I wouldn't suggest just flipping switches without knowing what it's for. Try following the wires from that switch and where it goes. Could be a kill switch too. Most alarms will flash the lights so obvious assumption here is that there is a brain in there. You could also check under the hood for a big horn. __________________ ![]() |

Thanks for the welcome genesis. Looks to be a nice clean site here.
Followed wires from toggle and found alarm brain under hood. It has wiring diagram on it but no brand name. I have had this car for two years and did not know it had an alarm until I changed the battery. I have it unplugged now until I can find a remote for it. I have done a search with the model # of the brain and don't come up with anything, does anyone know what brand it could be? It is getting extremely cold in my garage so I will take up the rest of this tomorrow. Hopefully I will have some answers here and a couple of other places I posted the same question. Ya'll have a good night. Last edited by edchin; 02-02-2010 at 11:20 PM. |

You must have good lighting in your garage to be working late and thanks for the compliments on the site. Before you go for the night, it would help to know whatever other information you have about the chip. You say that you searched for the model number but you didn't give me the model number.

Thanks for the prompt response guys. Model# on the box is al-430 and no brand name. I tried taking a picture with my camera but I cant get a good shot. I was posting on a couple of other sites and they requested a picture too. The model number doesn't bring up any results like I said before but flipping the switch fixed it.
I hope my car won't just randomly turn off because the switch is flipped. |

I found some remotes that work with the alarm system so far: http://www.autotechs.com/items/item266.htm
I will continue my search later __________________ If life is a highway, mine is missing some signs. |
