How to Inspect Tires in a Chevy Camaro
How to Inspect Tires in a Chevy Camaro
1. Make sure you put the correct size tires into your Chevy Camaro. The size of the front and rear tires are the same. However there's a wide range of correct tire sizes for Chevy Camaro depending on the year and model of your car. Go to DragTimes for a list of tires sizes for your Chevy Camaro.
2. Check the tire pressure (PSI) of your tires when it's cold outside. Insert the tire pressure gauge (available for a few tires) into the tire's valve stem (the nozzle on the side of the tire). Press the gauge down until you don't hear a hiss of air. Note the reading on the tire pressure gauge. Look for a sticker on the driver's side door that lets you know what the maximum tire pressure (PSI). If needed, add or subtract air.
3. Verify the tires are for wearing evenly. Wear in the middle or on the edges may indicate over or under inflation. If the edges look erratic or feathered, the tires may be misaligned. If you notice wear in the same spots on all the tires, you may need to have them rotated.
4. Inspect the tread. Take a penny and insert it into the tire groove with Lincoln's head upside down. If you see all of Lincoln's head, the tire's too worn and needs replacing. You can also look for the tire wear bars across the tread. Tires without enough tread may become dangerous in wet weather.
5. Look at the tires for nails, damage or cracking and replace your tires as needed. Tire damage can lead to loosing control of the vehicle and an accident.
