Just thought I'd share my eventful Monday. After enjoying the weather and grabbing some food, I was cruising home and saw another Prelude. We pulled over in a parking lot and were just chatting about our cars and exchanging information. Popped my hood so he could show me a mod for the distributor. Then he was showing me what it looked like in his engine. Then bam! The wind blew my hood into the windshield and this is the aftermath.

Ouch! No way. That's so uncalled for. I hope you were still able to lock the hood and drive.

Ya. Thankfully and fortunately I was able to lock the hood and I was only a few minutes from my house, so I just drove it home.

 

Insurance claim? Or are you just going to fix it cash.

Just going to fix it cash. Hate dealing with insurance companies.

 

Better not to go with insurance on this since they base the car on book value and will write it off or something. Then you buy it back as a write-off, no good.

Ya I know. Was worried about that when some woman backed into my car last summer. Was at a my friends place and parked in front of the house and the neighbor across the street backed out of her driveway and right into the side of my car.

 

One car damage is easier since you have the option to fix it yourself without reporting it, two car collision of any kind gets a little hard.

True. They insisted on going through their insurance. I had the go the non-reporting route a few months after when someone made a sudden stop in front of me and I ended up running into the back of them *tear*. My Prelude hasn't been the same since . More important things to work on than the cosmetics right now.
